Piers Pressdee QC and Joanne Porter (instructed by Griffiths Robertson) appeared in the significant Court of Appeal case of R (Care Proceedings: Joinder of Foster Carers) [2021] EWCA Civ 875. The Court of Appeal restated the principles applicable to the question of joinder of foster carers to care proceedings, but the case is of legal significance for being the first reported decision to establish, as Piers and Joanne argued, that a public law placement application and a private law non-agency adoption application could be determined in parallel.
