An NHS trust obtained a declaration that it was lawful to withhold certain invasive treatment from a 13-year-old child who had a limited life expectancy because of multiple health problems and who was the subject of care proceedings. The treatments offered no prospect of recovery and would cause him considerable pain and compromise his well-being.
