AR v AS (2015)

13th November 2015

Practice Areas

International Children Law

A judge refused to order the summary return to Saudi Arabia of an eight-year-old child whose Saudi parents had separated, with the mother taking the child and seeking asylum in the UK. It was in the child’s best interests to remain with the mother, who had reason to fear that if she returned to Saudi Arabia as a separated or divorced woman, she would be at risk of harm from her family and her life would be impossibly harsh and restricted.
