Congratulations to Mani Singh Basi, who will receive Nottingham Trent University’s Award for Outstanding Alumni.
The award, which recognises individuals “whose work has transformed lives, challenged conventions, and inspired communities,” honours Mani for his exceptional contributions to family law.
Mani is a leading barrister in Children Law, representing parents and children in complex and sensitive cases involving child abduction, forced marriage, domestic abuse, and honour-based violence, often across multiple jurisdictions worldwide and regularly appearing in landmark rulings before the High Court and Court of Appeal.
He has received numerous awards, including Legal Aid Barrister of the Year (2024), Family Law Junior Barrister of the Year (2023) and Family Law Legal Commentator of the Year (2022).
Beyond the courtroom, Mani is the author of three leading family law titles and serves as Editor of Family Law Week (FLW). He is also a sought-after legal commentator, with his expertise featured in a range of national media outlets, including BBC Radio 4, The Guardian, and The Times.
He will be formally presented with the award at NTU’s Summer Graduation Ceremony on 28 July.
