We are delighted to launch the 4PB Financial Remedies Essay Competition 2025, now in its third year. The competition reflects our ongoing dedication to nurturing excellence and innovation in financial remedies law.

With this opportunity, we aim to encourage current law students, as well as those who have completed their studies and are actively seeking pupillage, to explore the realm of Financial Remedies law in hope that they will be inspired to consider a practice in this area of law.

This year’s we invites entrants to write a 1,000 word essay discussing the following:

Does the decision of Standish v Standish [2025] UKSC 26 exacerbate inequality in divorce outcomes by unfairly advantaging the wealthier spouse?

The submission deadline is Friday 10^th October 2025.

PRIZES

The winner will receive:

A £500 monetary prize,
An invitation for a mini-pupillage,
An invitation to the 4PB Finance Group Annual Seminar and Reception,
The opportunity for their essay to be published in the Family Law Journal.

The runner(s)-up will receive:

An invitation for a mini-pupillage,
