Overview

Her Honour Michelle Corbett had a distinguished career at the Bar and has a wealth of judicial experience which she now brings to the 4PB Non Court Dispute Resolution team.

She was called to the Bar in 1987, practised in family law, particularly children law, throughout her career at the Bar in London. Michelle sat as a Family Recorder from 2007 to 2009.

In 2009 Michelle was appointed to the Circuit Bench and sat in the County Courts at Luton, Kingston and the West London Family Court.

In 2022 Michelle was appointed as a Senior Circuit Judge and Designated Family Judge for West London, one of the three leadership Circuit Judge appointments in London.  As DFJ she was the family leadership judge for the 7 courts in West London (West London Family Court plus the County Counts at Barnet Brentford Uxbridge Edmonton Kingston and Willesden) as well as sitting in the most complex public and private law children cases.

Michelle has sat as a Deputy High Court Judge under s.9(1) since 2012 in which capacity she sat in the Royal Courts of Justice on a variety of High Court disputes including international child abduction, relocation, jurisdictional and cross border cases.

Michelle retired from the Bench in February 2025. She is approved to sit in retirement as a Deputy Circuit Judge (including section 9) on the South Eastern Circuit.Michelle was a family tutor at Judicial College from 2014 to 2023 and assisted in providing training to family judges throughout England and Wales. In her Judicial capacity she sat on the Review of the Presumption of Parental Involvement Advisory Group set up by the President of the Family Division after the Harm Panel Report.

Michelle is a Bencher of the Inner Temple.

Michelle is a registered member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and qualified as an arbitrator in children’s cases. She is also available for Early Neutral Evaluation.
