Dan Shiers
Dan commenced pupillage at 4PB in October 2026.
During his first six, he is gaining experience across the breadth of Chambers’ family law practice under the supervision of Henry Clayton and Frankie Shama, with a particular developing interest in financial remedies, private children work and the financial consequences of relationship breakdown.
Before commencing pupillage, Dan undertook paralegal roles at Burgess Mee Family Law and HCR Law in London, assisting solicitors with private family matters including financial remedy and private children proceedings. His work involved case preparation, chronologies, court bundles and liaison with solicitors and counsel. This experience gave him valuable insight into the conduct of family cases from the solicitor’s perspective and the practical demands placed on both clients and those instructing counsel.
Dan previously worked as a paralegal at DWF, supporting complex litigation matters. He completed the Barrister Training Course at BPP University London and his LLM research focused on surrogacy law and the tension between the statutory framework and the realities of modern family formation.
Alongside his legal career, Dan has a longstanding interest in technology. He previously worked as an Apple Specialist and in the creative industries as a commercial videographer and editor, and retains a particular interest in the role of technology in modern legal practice.
