Ciara Coleman

Overview

Ciara joined Chambers as tenant in October 2025 after successfully completing her pupillage under the supervision of Chris Barnes, Katharine Bundell, Michael Edwards and Amean Elghady. Ciara accepts instructions across every aspect of Chambers’ practice.

Prior to pupillage, Ciara worked as a County Court advocate and appeared in over 500 hearings. Ciara accepted instructions, undertook drafting and represented numerous clients in various civil matters in court.

Private Children Law > >

Ciara is consistently instructed in the breadth of private law proceedings relating to Child Arrangements Orders, Prohibited Steps Orders and Specific Issue Orders (including relocation).

Ciara has experience in cases which involve allegations of abuse (including sexual and physical abuse) as well as coercive and controlling behaviour. Ciara has successfully proven very serious allegations of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and patterns of abusive behaviour at fact-finding stage.

Ciara is also regularly instructed in proceedings under Part IV of the Family Law Act 1996 and accepts instructions across the breadth of the same, including non-molestation orders and occupation orders. Ciara successfully obtained permission to appeal on the grounds and skeleton argument she drafted, where applications under the Family Law Act 1996 were dismissed at a return hearing (the subsequent appeal also succeeded).

International Children Law > >

Ciara has appeared in the High Court and is very interested in cases which involve international rights of access, child abduction, temporary leave to remove and international relocation. Ciara has also been instructed to provide written advice pre-issue in proceedings relating to location of children and potential child abduction.

Ciara accepts instructions across all public law proceedings, at all stages and has appeared for Local Authorities, parents, and Guardians.

Finance > >

Ciara accepts instructions in all financial remedy proceedings (including those under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989), at all stages. Ciara has been instructed on a number of financial matters from first appointment all the way up to final hearing. She has experience of dealing with matters which include the instruction of a PODE, and cases including Trusts and Inheritance (including those with an international element).
