A mother who had been identified as a vulnerable witness after a fact-finding hearing had concluded that she was a possible perpetrator of injuries to her two-year-old daughter had not had a fair trial. She had been deprived of assistance that would have enabled her to give her best evidence and a rehearing was ordered.
