Reported Case: Mani Singh Basi Successfully Represented the Applicant in High Court Inherent Jurisdiction Committal Proceedings

Mani Singh Basi represented the applicant who sought a committal order against the defendant in proceedings concerning the inherent jurisdiction of the High Court.

In the first reported decision, Re D (Contempt: Breach) [2025] EWHC 3190, the court found the defendant in breach of orders in proceedings as a ward of the court. At the sentencing hearing, Re D (Contempt: Sentencing) [2025] EWHC 3475 (Fam), Henke J in the High Court made a suspended committal order.

Both judgments highlight the principles concerning committal proceedings and sentencing, with Mani having been involved in a number of previous reported decisions in this area (he has appeared in 12 reported committal judgments in recent years).
