Barbara Mills KC Awarded a Life Peerage in the Prime Minister’s Resignation Honours

Everyone at 4PB is immensely proud to congratulate our Joint Head of Chambers and former Chair of the Bar Council 2025, Barbara Mills KC, on her appointment to the House of Lords in Sir Keir Starmer’s Resignation Honours.

This appointment is a testament to Barbara’s exceptional contribution to the law, the Bar and public life. Throughout her distinguished career, she has been a tireless advocate for children and families, a champion of equality, diversity and inclusion, and a passionate voice for tackling violence against women and girls. Her leadership, integrity and commitment to improving the profession have inspired so many, both within 4PB and across the wider legal community.

Barbara will be issued Letters Patent by His Majesty The King, becoming Baroness Barbara Mills KC. She will then be formally introduced to the House of Lords, where she will take the oath, sign the Test Roll and take her seat in the Chamber as a Member of the House.

She will remain in her position as Joint Head of Chambers at 4PB and continue to practice alongside her new role.
