Teertha Gupta KC and Mani Singh Basi Nominated at the Asian Legal Awards 2025
Congratulations to Teertha Gupta KC and Mani Singh Basi, who have both been nominated for the Asian Legal Awards 2025, hosted by the Society of Asian Lawyers, honouring legal excellence, diversity, and achievement across the profession.
Teertha has been nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising over 30 years of exceptional contribution to and lasting impact in Family Law. Teertha was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2012 and a Family Division Deputy High Court Judge in 2016 (the first person of colour to sit in that capacity), and also sits as a Recorder in the Criminal and Civil courts.
An award-winning barrister, Teertha’s accolades include Legal 500 Family Law QC of the Year (2018) and LexisNexis Family Law QC of the Year (2021/22). He is widely respected for his pioneering advocacy, mentorship, and leadership within the profession. He is described in directories as “one of the foremost practitioners in the field of international abduction cases and has a level of expertise that few people can rival.”
Mani has been nominated for the Civil Lawyer of the Year, recognising his outstanding achievements and growing reputation in Family Law. Mani is an award-winning barrister and Deputy District Judge on the South Eastern Circuit, described in the directories as “one of the finest barristers in the field of child abduction law.”
He has been involved in 69 reported Court of Appeal and High Court decisions and was named Legal Personality of the Year (LexisNexis, 2024) and Family Law Junior Barrister of the Year (LexisNexis, 2023). Mani is also a published author, with three titles to date, and a respected legal commentator, featuring in the national press, including The Guardian and The Times, as well as serving as Editor for Family Law Week and contributing to publications such as the International Family Law Journal and Family Law Journal.
