Oliver’s practice is concentrated on Family Law work dealing with all areas of public law and private law relating to children. He acts regularly for local authorities, parents and guardians in all levels of court. Recent cases include: injunction proceedings against the press in a ritual abuse witchcraft case; international child abduction proceedings (Brussels II Bis); various care proceedings involving amongst other matters non-accidental injury, sexual abuse and terrorism.
During his early years at the Bar, Oliver also extensively practised in criminal, personal injury and common law. This has given him a broad base of legal knowledge and experience.
Oliver gives regular seminars and lectures on Family Law to solicitors and local authorities. He has provided training to paediatricians to assist them with writing expert reports and giving evidence in Family Law Proceedings.
Oliver has published a number of articles on developments in Family Law in the New Law Journal and has contributed to the Legal Network Television training videos.
Oliver is a keen sailor. He races dinghies and has recently completed a family project to rebuild entirely a 29 foot wooden yacht. Oliver is an urban cyclist but occassionally has ventured further afield, notably to throw himself down a Peruvian moutainside at high speed. He also skis and plays squash with no significant skill. After many years of chronic injuires owing to his over-enthusiastic style, Oliver has finally retired from 5-a-side football much to the relief of opponents and team-mates alike.
Oliver is a keen rugby fan. His bias towards the Welsh rugby team is entirely overwhelming. He is awaiting the Lions tour with feverish anticiaption and strongly believes that the team should be composed of the entire welsh squad plus one or two other players from the home nations who have welsh sounding names.

I have instructed Oliver on a number of occasions and on each one clients have reported back to me that they have been highly impressed by not only his advocacy in court but also the sensitive way in which he has dealt with their case. Oliver was instructed by my firm on an extremely complex care matter in which he was instrumental in achieving an excellent result for our client, against all the odds, through his complete dedication to the client’s case and his very hard work.
Oliver is a very able Barrister who works well with clients across the spectrum. He is hard working, conscientious and a professional you would want on your side.
