Mini Pupillage at 4PB.....

……. is an opportunity for students and others who are interested in becoming a barrister – whether at the self-employed Bar or as an employed barrister to have a taster of life at the Bar.  As we are a specialist set, it is likely to be of particular interest to those attracted to all aspects of family law and Court of Protection work.A mini pupillage at 4PB is an opportunity for those interested in a career at the Bar and particularly in Family Law to gain experience at this specialist set.

We offer 30 mini pupillages each year.  Mini pupillages usually last about three days and are available in March, April, June, July, November and December each year.  Due to high demand for these places, there is a limit of one placement per person.   As candidates tend to prefer summer, these are the most competitive times and candidates may therefore wish to apply for the other placements to increase the likelihood of being successful.  Candidates should submit their applications as follows:

  • In January for March/April;
  • In May for June/July; and
  • In September for November/December.

Candidates must be at least 18.  An interest in our area of work is desirable, but not essential.   A confidentiality agreement must be signed before the start of a mini pupillage and mini pupils must dress in appropriate business clothes during their time with us.

Chambers pays a contribution of £30 per day towards a mini pupil’s expenses.

Applications should be made by email to Jonathan Evans at minipupillage@4pb.com with a CV and covering letter setting out your reasons for applying to 4PB. Please send this along with an Equality and Diversity Monitoring Form
