| 19/04/12 | Jo Delahunty QC acts for the Mother in widely reports Rickets Case Jo Delahunty QC of 4PB, leading Kate Purkiss of Coram , succeeds in reuniting mother and child after allegations that the mother had killed her first born baby are rejected by the High Court after a 6 week trial before Mrs Justice Theis. The widely publicised case London Borough of Islington v Al Alas and Wray [2012] EWHC 865 (Fam) ( FLR forthcoming) Jo took on the lead cross examinations of all the clinicians and experts as well as the vitamin D and rickets research. The team lead by Jo exposed the sub optimal care given to the child at UCH and the failure of Great Ormond Street Hospital to detect rickets. By so doing, the allegation that this was a shaken baby case fell apart and the court found that the child died of natural causes involving vitamin D and rickets. The Queen has appointed Rebecca Jane Brown to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Kenneth Clarke QC MP. Rebecca has assigned her to the South Eastern Circuit, based at Milton Keynes County Court with effect from 20 April 2012. |

| 14/03/12 | A v B and C [2012] EWCA Civ 285 The Court of Appeal gave Judgment in the case of A v B and C [2012] EWCA Civ 285, an appeal by a biological father of a child residing with the biological mother and her lesbian partner concerning contact arrangements in respect of the child. AVQC and CSH appeared for the father. The appeal - which looked at interesting issues arising in alternative family cases – was allowed and case remitted to a Family Division judge. |
