24.05.2010 Supreme Court of the United States of America delivers judgment in Abbott v Abbott
The United States of America’s Supreme Court has handed down its decision in the case of Abbott v Abbott. The case is highly important as it enunciates the United States of America’s interpretation of article 3 of the Hague Convention 1980, an issue that has been unclear in the lower courts of the United States of America for some time. Further, the outcome bolsters the international consensus on the interpretation of article 3 of the Hague Convention 1980.

21.05.2010 Public Law Seminar

Michael Sternberg QC is gave a lecture, as a major speaker, on the variation and setting aside of orders in ancillary relief applications,at the Lexis Nexis National Day Conference on Ancillary Relief and Divorce on Wednesday, 28th April 2010.
16.04.2010 4 Paper Buildings Ancillary Relief Seminar
The Ancillary Relief Seminar held on Thursday 15th April was a well attended and sucessful evening.  Chaired by Jonathan Cohen QC three talks were given by Jonathan Cohen QC, Charles Hale and Elizabeth Couch.

08.04.2010 Joy Brereton sucessful in the Court of Appeal relocation case Re D (A Child) 2010
Joy Brereton was successful in the Court of Appeal today in a relocation case Re D (A Child) 2010. The appeal was allowed and the Judge’s order for the child and his mother to relocate to Australia was set aside.It was essentially on an Article 6 point and the Court has ordered an addendum CAFCASS report with another hearing for the Judge to reconsider her decision.
