01.12.2009 I (A Child) [2009] UKSC 10 Judgement
Henry Setright QC and Teertha Gupta appeared before the Supreme Court, in its first ever family case, representing the Interveners in on the 12th and 13th October.  The appeal concerned whether an English court had jurisdiction to determine the future level of contact between a child and his mother where the child does not habitually reside in an EU Member State.
19.11.2009 International Child Abduction Seminar
The recent International Child Abduction Seminar held in conjunction with the ICACU, reunite and Cafcass was a very sucessful evening.  The seminar was chaired by Henry Setright QC and Marcus Scott-Manderson QC, and short talks given by Matt Wood (ICACU), Anne-Marie Hutchinson (reunite), Dr Marilyn Freeman, David Williams, Mike Hinchliffe (Cafcass), Mark Jarman, Hassan Khan and Jacqueline Renton.  
 
The seminar was accredited with 2 CPD hours.  Copies of the notes can be found on the seminars and events page.

14.10.2009 Private Law Childrens Seminar
4 Paper Buildings hosted its annual Private Law Childrens seminar on 13th October.  The event was chaired by Alex verdan QC and talks given by Barbara Mills and Catherine Wood.  The seminar was a huge sucess with those attending giving high praise to both speakers for their imformative and well delivered talks. 12.10.2009 Henry Setright QC and Teertha Gupta appear in the new Supreme Court in its first ever family case
Henry Setright QC and Teertha Gupta appeared in the Supreme Court today in its first ever family case today.  Henry and Teertha are acting in this pro bono case, Re I, which is an appeal from the decision of the Court of Appeal (Thorpe, Scott Baker, and Sullivan LJJ).

22.09.2009 Henry Setright QC, Marcus Scott-Manderson QC, Dr Marilyn Freeman and Jacqueline Renton file an amicus curiae brief with the Supreme Court of the United States of America
Henry Setright QC, Marcus Scott-Manderson QC, Dr Marilyn Freeman and Jacqueline Renton have filed an amicus curiae brief with the Supreme Court of the United States of America in the case of Abbott v Abbott on behalf of Reunite, the leading international child abduction charity in the United Kingdom. The case will determine the definition of “rights of custody”, pursuant to article 3 of the Hague Convention 1980 in the jurisprudence of the United States of America.

03.07.2009 Dorothea Gartland wins the ALC Outstanding Newcomer in the field of Child Law Hershman Award 2009
Chambers are delighted to annouce that Dorothea Gartland has won the Association of Lawyers for Children 2009 award for 'Outstanding Newcomer in the Field of Child Law'. 
 
The award in memory of David Hershman QC is to recognise the contributions of newcomers to the field of child law and encourange them to continue to play an active role in shaping the future.
 
Dorothea received the award at the Hershman/Levy Memorial Lecuture at the Inner Temple on Thursday 2nd July.
